In this FRESHImage Presents, Tony Crescio sits down for an extensive interview with Dr. Andrzej Zahorski on sacred music. Dr. Zahorski speaks about everything from the origins of sacred music, to how its composition developed over time, to the theory which undergirds it and its ultimately mysterious nature. As Dr. Zahorski explains, sacred music is a form of communication and, as all forms of communication, requires formation to learn, a formation he sees lacking in the life of the Church today. Dr. Zahorski hopes that exposing people to the riches of Christian sacred music, through events such as the St. Cecilia Concert, will begin providing this formation so that more can experience its beauty.
Andrzej Zahorski is Director of Music at St. Anselm Parish in St. Louis, MO. He holds a doctorate of musical arts from Stanford University.
What a wonderful, beautiful blessing it is that Dr. Zahorski and other dedicated singers and musicians love sacred music so to keep it alive for us to enjoy!!!
