On this Gaudete Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, the Church calls us to rejoice! As last Sunday, we are presented with the figure of St. John the Baptist in our Gospel. Tony suggests that this is entirely appropriate, for St. John the Baptist is not only the forerunner and herald of the long-awaited Messiah, he is also the perfect exemplar of Christian Joy.
