Living in the Real World

Living in the Real World: 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In our Gospel reading for this Sunday, Jesus calls us to be meek and humble. These are two virtues sorely missing from our society today. And, as Tony Crescio explains, when they are, the result is a narrow imagination. This narrow imagination prevents us from seeing the beauty of human life and leads us to moves us to claim the role of God for ourselves. In contrast, when we possess the virtues of humility and meekness we are able to see the beauty of our world as created by our loving God, and live once again live in the real world.
